RTMCRT Real-Time Monitor and Control Software, Run-Time Version

Resumen

RTMCRT is intended for applications in which several remote PCs need to display the same real-time data in the same format. Remote PCs running RTMCRT can view and print RTMC projects created in the RTMC developer. One copy of RTMCRT is included with the purchase of LoggerNet or RTDAQ data logger support software. It is also sold independently for customers who need copies for remote computers.

Descripción detallada

RTMC projects developed in the standard RTMC application or RTMC Pro are run using RTMC Run-Time. RTMC Run-Time is included with LoggerNet, LoggerNetAdmin, LoggerNetData, RTDAQ, and RTMC Pro. Additional RTMC Run-Time versions can be purchased separately and installed on computers that are networked to a LoggerNet computer. This allows remote PCs to display data in a graphical format from a LoggerNet server.

As LoggerNet collects data from the data logger, the displays in RTMC Run-Time are automatically updated. RTMC Run-Time also allows the user to change public variable values or input locations, as well as toggle ports/flags if those capabilities were enabled in the RTMC project during development.

For best performance, RTMCRT version 4.x should run projects developed in RTMC version 4.x development tools (standard RTMC Development or RTMCPro).

  1. RTMC Run-Time has been known to run slowly when there is a lot of animation going on alongside graphs that are updating quickly. The default setting for frames per second (FPS) is 10, and it can be adjusted under Edit | Preferences. A setting of 2 or 3 FPS may be better for some displays. It may also be helpful to adjust the quality scale of the graphics and disable the animation altogether. Pipes, motors, and animated GIFs often create issues. It may be helpful to place real-time components on one screen and historic trends on another.

  2. The copy of RTMC Run-Time included with the purchase of LoggerNet is not an independent installation. It is installed with LoggerNet. Therefore, it cannot be installed separately on a different system.

  3. Although the CC5MPX can’t stream live video directly into RTMC, it can transfer images via FTP to a webserver that RTMC has access to. Depending on the update frequency, the images can be updated at near real-time, as long as the CC5MPX and the webserver are configured to allow this.

Embedding a live stream from the CC5MPX into an existing web page can be done using the Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP). Contact Campbell Scientific for details.

  4. The blog article "How to Navigate the World of Software Upgrades, Patches, and Trials" explains the difference between patches (free of charge) and upgrades (for a fee). This example quickly shows the difference between an upgrade and a patch:

    Upgrade Patch

Major version change, such as 1.3 to 2.0

Minor version change, such as 1.3 to 1.4

Typically requires purchase for a fee

    Free of charge

Software

A licensed copy of LoggerNet, LoggerNetAdmin, or RTDAQ must be running on the PC

RTMCRT Version 4.3 is optimized for displaying projects created using RTMC 4.3 development tools (standard RTMC Development or RTMCPro). RTMCRT version 4.3 will display projects from version 2.5 or 3.2 development tools, but there may be differences seen in the development environment and the actual run-time display. For best performance, 4.3 development tools should be used to develop projects for RTMCRT version 4.3.

Computer

RTMCRT runs on Windows 10 and 11. RTMCRT runs on both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of these operating systems.
