In an effort to study the performance of concrete floors in large warehouses and distribution centres, vibrating wire strain gauges were cast into test slabs at a major Bookers site in Northampton. A CR10X datalogger is acquiring data on the early life behaviour of the concrete to ascertain installation methodology. Information will be gained on how to best achieve crack-free concrete which will remain flat and withstand intensive vehicle trafficking. Loughborough University’s department of Civil and Building Engineering are also using weather sensors and multiplexers with the CR10X to monitor the effects of ambient temperature, relative humidity and wind speed on the concrete.
