CR9000X ethernet connection to laptop

Ema2017 May 9, 2017 10:52 AM

Hi all,

My question is somehow basic, but I couldn't find a solution for it.

I want to connect the CR9000x to my laptop via ethernet cable.

I've read the parts from the CR manual, QS1.6, QS.1.6.1 and QS.1.6.1.1. However, I am not able to connect the data logger to my laptop even though I followed all the steps. I've set up the subnet mask of both logger and laptop the same, and the IP addresses differ in the last fourth byte.

In the Setup Window for new datalogger, when I come to the part Communication Test a window pops up that says:

"Unable to connect to the data logger. Unable to communicate with the datalogger."

I've used following settings:

Datalogger Information
    Datalogger Name: CR9000X_ethernet
    Datalogger Type: CR9000X

IP Port Connection
    IP Address: 223.240.0.1:139

Datalogger Settings

    Max Time Online: 0h 0m 0s

How can I solve my issue?

Many thanks,

Emina

The normal issue is the cable you are using, you need a crossover cable for a direct connection (with no switch in between).

From the manual:

"For communications across a LAN, or through the Internet, a straight CAT 5 Ethernet cable should be used. For hooking up directly to your PC's Ethernet port, a CAT 5 Ethernet crossover cable is required."

Thank you for the reply.

I have solved the ethernet connection. I have the right cable, CAT 5 crossover. I somehow missed the port number and that's why it couldn't connect, but now the problem is solved.
